Seminar Series: Dr. Huda Zoghbi, Baylor College of Medicine
This seminar explores how protein misfolding and accumulation drive neurodegeneration across diseases ranging from the rare inherited spinocerebelar ataxia to the all-too-common Alzheimer's disease. It will highlight how genetic screens have helped identify modulators of tau protein levels.

Seminar Series: Dr. Rakez Kayed, UTMB, Galveston
This seminar will present recent findings on pathological tau aggregates in neurodegenerative diseases which form distinct polymorphic species across neurodegenerative diseases and even across Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, exploring implications for diagnostics and drug development.

Gregori Aminoff Prize Symposium 2026 - Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien
The Gregori Aminoff Prize rewards documented individual contributions in the field of crystallography, including areas concerned with the dynamics of the formation and determination of crystal structures. The Gregori Aminoff Prize was awarded for the first time in 1979. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences decided to award the Gregori Aminoff Prize in Crystallography 2026 to Professor David Eisenberg, University of California in Los Angeles, USA. He received the Prize for pioneering the study of amyloid proteins’ molecular structure, providing new knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s. This may benefit the development of new pharmaceuticals. Lectures by the laureate and invited speakers.

Scientia/De Lange Conference XI
This conference explores how rapid advances in neuroscience are beginning to move from basic discovery to real-world impact in areas like brain health, mental illness, education, and public policy. While the field has made major scientific progress, its societal benefits have so far been limited, and the event focuses on how to better translate research into meaningful applications. It emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary collaboration—bringing in perspectives from science, ethics, and the social sciences—to address questions about the implications, risks, and integration of neuroscience into society.

Seminar Series: Claudio Soto, UT Health, McGovern
This seminar examines how protein misfolding and seeding drive neurodegenerative disease progression via the "prion principle." Dr. Soto will discuss the molecular mechanics of protein aggregates and cross-interactions, highlighting how these shared processes inform new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
